Now people all over the world are enjoying it.

The first TV anime {shown in the United States} was Astro Boy
It was an anime program from the stories of Tetsuwan AtomuTezuka Osamu's famous comic

2.1
(When Japanese animators began to work on animation in the early 1950s,) they were greatly influenced by the Disney style of animation
This style created realistic movements of characters (because many cels were used)
In the 1960showever(as people wanted to see more weekly TV animation programs in Japan,) things began to change
Japanese animators did not have enough time and money to use a lot of celsso they had to cut the number
As a resultJapanese animation had fewer movements than the Disney style of animation.
2.2
(While Japanese animators were using fewer cels,) they began to use various camera angles and to work more carefully on each scene
An overseas anime fan says, “American TV animators often draw just one angle for one scene
Japanese animatorshoweverhave been drawing several angles for a scene since the early 1970s
The stories look more interesting in that way.”
Japanese animators developed their own way to save time and moneyand their skills led to today's famous anime.
3.1
In most countriesanimation is still thought to be a style of entertainment only for children
In Japanhoweveranime has entertained adults as well as children for many years
Japanese animators have been trying to make stories for people of all ages
An American anime fan says, “Most of the animation {made in the United States} tells just simple stories of good against evilbut the stories of anime are not so simple
Sometimes even the hero dies
That never happens in our animation.”
3.2
Miyazaki Hayao says, “Good animation must be funbut it also must leave something in people's hearts.”
In Spirited AwayMiyazaki creates a fantasy world {that both children and adults can enjoy |}
At the same timehis animation gives us a chance to think about social problems in our own ways.
4.1
It is interesting [that people with different cultural backgrounds can enjoy anime movies and TV programs(though they are basically made for Japanese people)]
Japanese culture has been influenced for centuries by the cultures of other countries
And now anime has begun to influence the world.
4.2
An American journalist thinks [that anime has had a big cultural influence on other countries]
Instead of Gross National Product (GNP)he calls the power of influencing other cultures “Gross National Cool.
And he says, “Japan is making an impact on the world through the power of culturenot through economic or military power
Japan is now the cool cultural leader of the world.”
